ForensicChef — Privacy Policy
Effective date: November 11, 2025

This Privacy Policy describes how ForensicChef (“we”, “us”, or “the App”) collects, uses, and discloses information when you use our iOS application and related share extension. ForensicChef is privacy-first: most processing is local to your device. This document explains what data (if any) is collected, how it’s used, and your choices.

  1. Summary (short)
  • Processing is performed locally on your device. The App does not automatically upload input, recipes, or results to servers.
  • The App uses Apple’s CryptoKit only for hashing (MD5, SHA‑256, SHA‑512). It does not implement or transmit proprietary encryption algorithms.
  • Any exported or shared file is sent by you via the iOS Share sheet or saved to your device; we do not send it to third parties.
  • If you need to request data deletion or have privacy questions, contact support@atomic-labs.com.
  1. Information We Collect
    a. Data we do NOT collect automatically
  • We do not collect or transmit your Input, recipes, outputs, or files to our servers by default.
  • We do not collect analytics, telemetry, or usage statistics by default.

b. Data optionally generated on-device

  • Local files you create (exports, temporary files, App Group imports) are stored on the device and controlled by you.
  • If you use the optional Share Extension, it writes files into the App Group container accessible only to the app and its extensions on the same device/account.

c. Device/diagnostic data (none by default)

  • The App does not include third‑party crash reporting or analytics by default. If any such service is added in the future you will be notified and, where applicable, asked to opt in.
  1. How We Use Information
  • Local processing: Parsing, transformation, hashing and analysis are performed entirely on your device.
  • Exports and sharing: When you use the Share sheet or export features, the App writes a file to your device (temporary or permanent) and passes it to the system share UI. You choose recipients and destinations.
  • App Group: The Share Extension may write files into the App Group container so the main app can import them. These files do not leave your device unless you explicitly export/share them.
  1. Third Parties & Integrations
  • The App may leverage Apple frameworks (e.g., CryptoKit) for cryptographic hashes and system-provided APIs for sharing and clipboard access.
  • The App does not integrate external analytics, advertising, or cloud storage by default. Any future integration will be documented and require appropriate disclosures and opt-ins.
  1. Clipboard & Pasteboard
  • If you import data via the system clipboard/pasteboard, the App reads the pasteboard content at your request. The App does not persist pasteboard contents after import unless you explicitly save them within the app.
  1. App Group & Share Extension
  • The Share Extension writes files to the App Group container (an on‑device shared folder between the extension and the host app). Only your app/extension with the same App Group entitlement can access these files.
  • Files in the App Group are not transmitted off-device by the extension or the app, unless you explicitly export them using system share options.
  1. Data Retention & Deletion
  • Exported files remain where you save them. To remove exported files, delete them from Files or the export location.
  • Saved recipes and app-managed files may be deleted via the app UI (Saved Recipes screen and removal commands). Deleting a recipe removes it from local storage on the device.
  • The app does not provide server-hosted backups. If you need assistance wiping local data, contact support (support@atomic-labs.com).
  1. Security
  • We follow iOS security best practices and rely on Apple platform protections (sandboxing, device encryption when enabled by the user, code signing).
  • Sensitive features (e.g., cryptographic functions) use Apple’s native frameworks (CryptoKit) rather than custom cryptography implementations.
  • No data is transmitted to our servers by default; this minimizes exposure.
  1. Children
  • The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child provided us personal information, contact support@atomic-labs.com to request deletion.
  1. International Users
  • If you use the App outside the country where the developer operates, note that your data remains on your device. We will comply with applicable privacy laws and respond to lawful requests pursuant to the jurisdiction covering the developer.
  1. Changes to this Policy
  • We may update this policy to reflect product changes. We will post the updated policy in the app help screen and (where appropriate) include an in-app notice. Material changes will include an updated effective date.
  1. Contact & Data Requests
  • For support, bug reports, or general questions: support@atomic-labs.com (replace with your support address).
  • For privacy questions, data access, or deletion requests: support@atomic-labs.com (replace with your privacy contact).
  • Please include your device identifier (if relevant) and a clear request. We will respond within 30 days where required by law.
  1. Where this policy is displayed

  1. Legal disclaimer
  • This sample privacy policy is provided for convenience. It is not legal advice. For compliance with laws in your target markets (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), please consult qualified legal counsel and update the policy to include any obligations (data processor/controller statements, data subject rights, lawful basis, processor agreements, retention schedules, and specific transfer mechanisms).
